This is very important as some home inspectors pay a fee to Real Estate offices or give gifts to agents to gain 'favored' status and be placed on the office 'short list' of approved inspectors. This often has nothing to do with how good an inspector is at his profession but rather how many houses he can 'approve' for sale for the referring agents.  Not only is this practice unethical but in some states such as Kentucky it is down right illegal. The old saying that "no servant can serve two masters" is very true.
Be sure to ask your inspector if he pays Realtors to gain referrals before you hire him. As a buyer, you want to know that your inspector has your best interests at heart.]]>
